The myth
In Amazonian legends, still water is a powerful mirror. The icamiabas gathered at Lake Yacy-uaruá, the "mirror of the moon", to honor the moon. In the legend of the Victoria lily, the young woman drowns after mistaking the moon's reflection for the moon itself. Blackwater igapós reflect the trees so sharply that it is hard to tell where the forest ends and the water begins. Water-Mirror of the Lagoon is a MYTHENOR trap inspired by these images: the lagoon does not fight, it only gives back whatever it receives.
Why it has this power
A common reflect trap. When the opponent attacks, the damage you would take in that battle goes back to their breath instead. The attack happens, but the attacker pays. It works best against very strong attacks, which turn against their own owner.
Did you know
On blackwater rivers the reflection is so perfect that photos turned upside down barely change.
