The myth

Tupã means thunder in Tupi. For the Guarani Mbya he is the divinity who lives in the west and rules the waters, rain, lightning and storms. In the Apapocuva-Guarani version recorded by Curt Nimuendajú, thunder is the sound of the canoe-shaped seat on which Tupã crosses the sky. Forest dwellers know that lightning tends to strike the tallest tree, and many old trees bear lightning scars. Tupã's Thunderbolt is a MYTHENOR spell inspired by that power of the sky: it always chooses the tallest.

Why it has this power

A rare destruction spell: it destroys the opponent's monster with the highest ATK. Like lightning choosing the tallest tree, it always strikes the strongest on the other side. It is one of the region's most direct answers to enemy legendaries and epics.

Did you know

Brazil is one of the countries with the most lightning strikes in the world.
