The myth
Morpho butterflies are real insects of the tropical forests of the Americas, and several species live in Brazil. The brilliant blue of their wings comes not from pigment but from structural color, created by microscopic scales that reflect light like tiny mirrors, so the hue shifts with the angle. As they fly among the trees, opening and closing their wings, they seem to blink, a blue flash that appears and vanishes. The underside of the wings is brown and full of eye-like spots, which helps hide the butterfly when it lands. The card is a MYTHENOR creation inspired by them.
Why it has this power
A level 2 common with ATK 600 and DEF 800: one of the region's lightest cards. It is a water-element Insect or Plant, because the blue of its wings recalls water mirroring the sky. Moon and Scarab are the blinking shimmer and the world of insects. Cheap and useful for fusions and rituals.
Did you know
The morpho's blue is so intense it can be seen by pilots of small planes flying low over the forest.
