The myth

The Matinta Perera is one of the best-known figures of Pará folklore. By day she is an ordinary woman, often living alone; by night she becomes a bird or wraps herself in black and flies over the houses, perches on walls and roofs and gives a shrill, insistent whistle. Worn out, the residents promise her tobacco, coffee, cane liquor or fish so she will leave. The next day an old woman knocks at the door asking for what was promised, and whoever fails to deliver suffers misfortune. She passes the curse from mother to daughter or to the woman who accepts the gift.

Why it has this power

A level 3 common with ATK 1100 and DEF 900. It is a darkness-element Spellcaster, with Moon and Fox: the night and the cunning of a promise collected. Alone it is small, but fused with any Bird it becomes the Matinta Perera as the Shroud-Tearer, with ATK 2250.

The writer Frederico José de Santana Néri recorded the Matinta Perera as early as the nineteenth century.
