The myth

Guaraci comes from the Tupi kûarasy, the sun. In many Tupi-Guarani narratives the sun is the elder twin brother of the moon, and their adventures set the world in order; among the Guarani he is called Kuaray. In the nineteenth century Couto de Magalhães, in O Selvagem, presented Guaraci as one of the three great Tupi gods, beside Jaci and Rudá, and read the name as "mother of the living"; other scholars, such as Câmara Cascudo and Eduardo Navarro, proposed different readings, like "origin of this day". Current research notes that part of this pantheon was assembled through European eyes, but the sun remains central in Indigenous cosmologies.

Why it has this power

A level 8 epic with ATK 2800 and DEF 2500: the strongest deity in the region after Tupã. It is a light-element Deity, with Sun and Crown: the light that rules the day. With no special effect, its strength is in the numbers: it wakes the whole forest with a single glance.

In several Guarani versions, the Sun and the Moon rise into the sky after many adventures on earth.
