Harpy Eagle of the High Canopy

The myth

The harpy eagle, called gavião-real or uiraçu in Brazil, a name of Tupi origin meaning something like "big bird", is a real bird and one of the most powerful eagles in the world. It lives high in tropical forests, builds huge nests in the tallest trees, such as the kapok and the Brazil nut tree, and hunts sloths and monkeys, snatching them from branches with talons as large as a bear's claws. Many Indigenous peoples value its feathers highly, and the bird appears in songs and stories. Today it is threatened by deforestation. The card tells no myth; it celebrates the queen of the canopy.

Why it has this power

A level 5 uncommon with ATK 1800 and DEF 1400: the strongest attack among the region's common and uncommon birds, like talons that pluck monkeys from branches. It is a wind-element Bird. Feather and Crown make it queen of the heights. Fused with any thunder card, it becomes the Hawk of Tupã's Thunder.
