The myth
The hummingbird holds a special place in the cosmology of the Guarani Mbya, a people who live today in southern and southeastern Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. In the sacred words recorded by the ethnographer León Cadogan, when Nhanderu, the first father, emerges in the primal darkness, it is the hummingbird, mainumby, who refreshes him and feeds him with the nectar of flowers. For the Mbya, the little bird is a messenger and companion of the divinities. This card's thunder wings are a MYTHENOR invention, joining the hummingbird's real speed to the sound of Tupã's sky.
Why it has this power
A level 4 uncommon with ATK 1500 and DEF 1000: fast and fragile, it strikes before it can be touched. It is a thunder-element Bird, because its wings beat so fast they boom. Wisp is the shimmer of its feathers; Crown, its closeness to the divinities. It pairs well with Tupã's cards.
Did you know
Hummingbirds beat their wings dozens of times per second and are the only birds that can fly backward.
