The myth
The Norns are the figures who decide fate. In the Völuspá three maidens come from the lake beneath the tree: Urðr, Verðandi and Skuld. They lay down laws and choose the lives of the children of men, carving out destiny. Snorri says they live beside Urðr's well beneath a root of Yggdrasil and water the tree every day with water and white clay so that it does not rot. There are also other norns who come at every birth. The names are usually read as what happened, what is happening and what shall be.
Why it has this power
A level 8 Epic, reached only by fusing the Iron-Staff Völva with any Spellcaster. ATK 2750 and DEF 2900: fate protects more than it wounds. Water Spellcasters, for Urðr's well, under Moon and Fox. With the Seiðr Staff they exceed 3400 ATK.
