The myth
Hræsvelgr, whose name means corpse-swallower, is a giant in the shape of an eagle. In the poem Vafþrúðnismál, Odin asks where the unseen wind comes from, and the wise giant answers that Hræsvelgr sits at the end of heaven, and from his wings comes the wind that blows over all men. Snorri repeats the explanation in Gylfaginning, placing him at the northern edge of the sky. It is one of the few direct explanations of a natural phenomenon in Norse myth.
Why it has this power
A level 6 Uncommon with ATK 2100 and DEF 1700, the strongest bird that needs no fusion. Wind element, of course, since every wingbeat is a gust across the world. Feather and Crown, flight and a giant's grandeur, complete the card.
Did you know
According to Vafþrúðnismál, no man sees the wind, yet all feel Hræsvelgr's wings.
