The myth
Fáfnir is the son of Hreiðmarr and brother of Regin and Ótr. When the gods killed Ótr, who wore the shape of an otter, they paid the blood-price with gold taken from the dwarf Andvari, who cursed the hoard. Fáfnir killed his father for that gold, carried it to the heath of Gnitaheiðr and turned into a giant serpent, an ormr, lying on the treasure with the helm of terror. In Reginsmál, Fáfnismál and the Völsunga saga, Regin urges young Sigurd to kill him. Fáfnir dies talking with his slayer and warns him of the curse.
Why it has this power
A level 7 Rare born only through fusion: Regin, the smith brother, rhyming with any Dragon. ATK 2400 and DEF 2600: defense is higher because he lives to guard. The Earth element belongs to the heath and buried gold; Sun and Crown shine like the hoard and the greed to rule over it.
Did you know
The Fáfnismál is almost entirely a dialogue between the dying dragon and Sigurd, full of questions about fate.
