The myth

Miko are the women who serve at Shinto shrines, a tradition alive to this day. In ancient times they were shamans able to receive the words of the kami in trance, and the myth of the heavenly cave itself shows Ame-no-Uzume's dance as the model for the sacred kagura dances. Today miko, in white kimono and red hakama, assist in rites, dance kagura, tend the shrine and greet visitors. In some regions, especially northern Japan, women called itako keep forms of mediumship tied to that ancient role.

Why it has this power

A Common level-3 Light Spellcaster with 1000 ATK and 1100 DEF: more protector than warrior, so her defense is slightly higher. Light and Sun are the shrine's purity and the tie to Amaterasu; Fox recalls the Inari shrines. In play she opens the way for allied rites and spirits.

Did you know

The bell the miko holds in the Urayasu no mai dance is shaped after the three sacred treasures: mirror, jewel and sword.
