The myth
The card is a MYTHENOR version, but the legend behind it is real. The chronicles of Hakone's shrine tell of a poisonous nine-headed dragon that lived in Lake Ashi, raising waves and clouds and harming travelers. In 757 the monk Mangan built a stone altar by the water and prayed until the dragon changed its form and offered a jewel in surrender. Turned into the lake's protector, it is revered as Kuzuryū Ōkami. Every year, at the Kosui-sai festival on July 31, red rice is carried by boat and offered in the middle of the lake.
Why it has this power
A Common level-3 Darkness Dragon with 1150 ATK and 900 DEF: a dragon hidden in the mist that strikes before it is seen. Darkness comes from the dragon's poisonous form before its conversion; Moon and Crown recall the night lake and the jewel it surrendered to the monk. A good cheap attacker for the early turns.
