The myth
Amaterasu Ōmikami is the kami of the Sun and the highest deity of Shinto. According to the Kojiki, she was born from Izanagi's left eye as he purified himself after returning from the land of the dead, and she was given rule over the Plain of High Heaven. Offended by the excesses of her brother Susanoo, she hid in the cave Ama-no-Iwato and the world fell into darkness. The gods hung a mirror and jewels on a sakaki tree, and Ame-no-Uzume's dance drew laughter until she peeked out and was drawn forth. She is venerated at the Inner Shrine of Ise and regarded as ancestor of the imperial house.
Why it has this power
A Legendary level-10 Light Deity with 3400 ATK and 3300 DEF, the highest defense in the archipelago: she who lights the world also shields it. Sun and Crown are her natural constellations, daylight and heavenly sovereignty. With no effect text, she wins by presence alone, like a morning no one can stop.
