The myth
The Khalkotauroi were the bronze bulls of King Aeetes of Colchis: they had bronze hooves and breathed fire from their mouths, and they were a gift from Hephaestus. Before handing over the Golden Fleece, Aeetes demanded that Jason yoke them alone, plough a field and sow dragon's teeth. Medea gave the hero a magic ointment that shielded him from fire and iron; Jason tamed the bulls, ploughed the field and, when armed warriors sprang from the teeth, threw a stone among them so they fought each other (Apollodorus 1.9.23; Apollonius of Rhodes, Argonautica 3).
Why it has this power
An Uncommon level-5 card with 1900 ATK and 1800 DEF: bronze strength and endurance, strong for its level. A Fire Machine, a flame-spitting work of Hephaestus, it bears the Sun and Hammer constellations of fire and forge. It pairs with Hephaestus's Golden Net and the smith god's other Machines.
Did you know
According to Apollonius, Medea's ointment came from a flower that sprang from Prometheus's blood, dripped by the eagle in the Caucasus.
