The myth
Hestia was the goddess of the hearth, first daughter of Cronus and Rhea. Every Greek house had its domestic fire, and every city kept a public hearth in the prytaneion, the magistrates' building, where honored guests were received. When Greeks founded a colony, they carried embers from the mother city's hearth to kindle the fire of the new city, binding the two forever. The Homeric Hymns say Hestia received the first and the last offering at feasts. The card's keeper is a MYTHENOR figure inspired by that sacred duty.
Why it has this power
A Common level-3 card with 900 ATK and 1200 DEF: a protector, not a conqueror, which is why defense exceeds attack. A Fire Warrior for the flame he guards, he bears the Sun and Hammer constellations, the light and the patient labor of keeping it lit night after night.
Did you know
The Greek word hestia simply means hearth: the goddess and the household fire shared the same name.
