The myth

Among the parts of a person the Egyptians described was the sekhem. Budge explains that the word literally means to have mastery over something, and that the sekhem was a person's vital force personified, able to follow them into heaven after death. Egyptians also believed that seals, names and written words had real power over things. The Seal that Drains Strength is a MYTHENOR trap imagining a seal able to trap the sekhem of whoever touches it, leaving the attacker with no strength at all.

Why it has this power

A common trap: when an opponent's monster attacks, its ATK drops to zero in that battle. Touch the seal and your strength stays in it. Your own monster comes out unharmed and can even destroy the attacker, as long as it has some strength to strike back.

Budge lists eight parts of the Egyptian person: body, double, soul, heart, spirit, power, shadow and name.
