The myth
In the Opening of the Mouth, a priest recited spells while touching the mouth, arms and legs of the dead with a ritual blade, so they could breathe, eat and drink again: the rite reanimated the body for the soul's use. Budge summarizes Book of the Dead chapters in which Thoth helps with this opening. At the same time, the name was essential: a nameless being could not be presented to the gods. The Nameless King Awakened, who speaks, walks and reigns again, is a MYTHENOR creation.
