The myth
In Egyptian art, many deities appear with a human body and an animal head, a way of showing each one's nature and power. The lioness head signaled warrior strength and protective fury: Sekhmet, destroyer of Ra's enemies, was shown as a woman with a lioness head, and Egypt knew several other lioness goddesses. This card's Champion is not a goddess but a MYTHENOR warrior who carries that image into the arena. The mask and the strength of the beast tie in with the card Masks of the Beast-Gods.
Why it has this power
A common level 4 Beast-Warrior of Fire with 1300 ATK and 1100 DEF. Sun beats Moon and Fox beats Hammer. It gains +600 from Masks of the Beast-Gods, +500 from the Ancient Bronze Khopesh and +500 from the Collar of Jackal Fangs: a centerpiece of Beast-Warrior decks.
Did you know
Sekhmet was usually shown with the sun disk and the uraeus cobra on her lioness head.
