The myth

Cats were highly valued in Egypt: they kept homes free of vermin, protected the crops and provided company. The goddess Bastet, linked to cats, to the protection of the home, to women and to childbirth, had her cult centered on the city of Bubastis. Herodotus says that when a cat died a natural death, the people of the house shaved their eyebrows in mourning, and that dead cats were taken to Bubastis to be embalmed and buried. This card's altar cat is a MYTHENOR creature.

Why it has this power

A common level 2 Beast of Light with 800 ATK and 700 DEF: small, but full of destiny. Sun beats Moon and Bull beats Crown. Joined with any Serpent it fuses into the Knife-Cat Who Slays the Serpent, and it is a material of the Riddle of the Sphinx, the ritual that awakens the Lapis Lazuli Sphinx.

Did you know

According to Herodotus, when a fire broke out, Egyptians cared more about saving the cats than about putting out the flames.
