The myth

No Egyptian text speaks of a glass dragon: this wyrm is a MYTHENOR creation. The idea plays with real things. Sand and crushed quartz were the raw material of Egyptian faience, a glassy, shining substance the Egyptians called tjehenet, the gleaming one, and believed to reflect an immortal light. The desert, the red land beyond the fertile valley, was the domain of Set, lord of the desert and of disorder. The feared reptiles of real belief were serpents and crocodiles, not winged dragons.

Why it has this power

A common level 3 Dragon of Fire with 1200 ATK and 1000 DEF: heat burns before it protects. Sun beats Moon and Leviathan beats Fox. Beyond fighting, it is the melted sand of the Rite of the Myrrh Nest, which together with the Temple Fire-Swallow and the Spirit of the Turquoise Flame calls Bennu, the bird of renewal.

Did you know

Egyptian faience was not clay pottery: it was crushed quartz or sand mixed with minerals such as copper oxide, heated until it took on a glassy shine.
