The myth

This card depicts no myth, but a generic hunting and war technique: a leaf-covered pit with stakes at the bottom, waiting for the hasty step of its prey. Hunting mattered greatly to the peoples of ancient Mexico, especially the Chichimec groups of the north, whose god Mixcóatl was patron of hunters, and in ritual festivals such as Quecholli. The game uses the idea of a trap for a card that punishes impulsive attacks, without tying it to any specific historical source.

Why it has this power

A Common trap that destroys the attacking monster. Covered in leaves, it waits for the hasty foot: whoever charges without looking falls in. One of the most punishing traps for a Common, able to bring down even a big attacker, it makes your opponent think twice before attacking.

Did you know

At the Quecholli festival, hunters held a great ritual hunt by encircling the animals.
