The myth
The tonalpouhqui, “one who counts the fates,” was the specialist who read the tonalpohualli, the 260-day ritual calendar made of 20 signs and 13 numbers. He consulted painted books called tonalamatl to learn a newborn’s destiny from the birth day, and to choose the date for a naming, a marriage, a journey or a war. Each day had patron gods and a favorable or baleful charge. The 260-day count is still kept today by ritual specialists in Maya communities of Guatemala and elsewhere in Mesoamerica.
Why it has this power
A Level 5 Uncommon with 1500 ATK and 1700 DEF: wisdom instead of strength, so DEF exceeds ATK. Light and Sun are the day, the calendar’s unit; Fox, the wit of one who reads fate. As a Spellcaster, she gains +700 from the Ritual Turquoise Mask.
