The myth
Xólotl is the dog-headed god, twin of Quetzalcóatl and his dark face: if Quetzalcóatl is Venus as the morning star, Xólotl is Venus as the evening star, which accompanies the sun as it descends into the land of the dead. He was patron of twins and of people with deformities. In the Fifth Sun myth, when the gods offered themselves to move the sun, Xólotl fled: he became a double maize stalk, then a double maguey, and finally the axolotl, which still bears his name. Just as the dog guides the dead, he guides the sun through the night.
Why it has this power
A Level 6 Rare with 2200 ATK and 2000 DEF: the dog who became a god. Darkness and Moon are the night and sunset he crosses; Crown is his divinity. He is born by fusing the Xoloitzcuintle with any Undead — the dog of the breed that bears his name, joined to the dead he leads.
Did you know
The axolotl, an endangered amphibian of the Xochimilco canals, owes its name to Xólotl: atl, “water,” plus xolotl.
