The myth
In Mexica religion, wearing a being’s costume was no mere disguise. The ixiptla, a god’s “image” or “representative,” was the person who, dressed in divine insignia, was regarded as that god’s living presence during the ceremony. Warriors in jaguar helmets showed their faces between the animal’s fangs, as if being swallowed by it or born from it. Jaguar skin signaled nobility and courage. The card’s champion, who loses his humanity on donning the mask, is the game’s dramatization.
Why it has this power
A Level 5 Uncommon with 1900 ATK and 1600 DEF: the most aggressive Uncommon Beast-Warrior. Fire is the fury the mask awakens; Sun and Fox, daytime strength and the hunter’s cunning. He gains +500 from both the Obsidian Macuahuitl and the Ceremonial Jaguar Pelt.
