The myth
In many Indigenous cultures of the Americas, necklaces of animal teeth carry meaning: they recall a hunt, show courage or connect the wearer to the animal's qualities. The jaguar, the largest cat in the Americas, holds a special place in several cosmologies as a being of great power, and among some peoples certain shamans are associated with it. Today the jaguar is legally protected in Brazil and threatened by habitat loss and illegal hunting, and trading its parts is a crime. The Jaguar-Fang Necklace is MYTHENOR equipment: whoever wears it gains a little of the jaguar's courage.
Why it has this power
Common equipment: it gives 500 ATK and 500 DEF to a Beast or Beast-Warrior. It works well with the Full-Moon Jaguar, the Jaguar Warrior, the Werewolf, the Capelobo and the Mapinguari. Combined with Whistle to the Beasts, it makes the region's Beasts very hard to stop.
Did you know
The jaguar is considered vulnerable in Brazil, and the Atlantic Forest holds only a few hundred of them.
