The myth
Brynhildr is the valkyrie of the Völsung legends. For giving victory to the king Odin wanted defeated, she was punished with an enchanted sleep inside a fortress of shields, and she vowed to marry only a man who knew no fear. Sigurd woke her. Later her hall was ringed by flames that only Sigurd, riding Grani, could cross, disguised as Gunnar. The deceit led to tragedy: Brynhildr brought about Sigurd's death and took her own life to burn beside him on the same pyre. In Helreið Brynhildar she tells her story on the road to Hel.
Why it has this power
A level 7 Rare with ATK 2350 and DEF 2050: warrior and guardian at once. The Fire element comes from the ring of flames that guarded her hall and from the final pyre. Sun and Hammer are the constellations of warrior women. With the Runic Bearded Axe or the Belt of Strength she outpaces many Epics.
Did you know
Brynhildr's story inspired Richard Wagner's opera The Valkyrie, part of his cycle The Ring of the Nibelung.
