The myth

This ambush is a MYTHENOR creation, but it reflects what the chronicles tell of the shinobi. In the wars of the Sengoku period, feudal lords hired bands from Iga and Kōka to spy, set castles ablaze, sabotage supplies and strike by surprise, often at night. Siege records mention infiltrators who slipped into the enemy camp in disguise. Edo-period theater and novels exaggerated these stories into the ninja hiding in the ceiling, under the floor or inside the walls, the image this card uses.

Why it has this power

An Uncommon trap that destroys the attacking monster. The invader walks in confidently and learns that the ceiling, floor and walls were ninja. It does the same as the Hidden-Blade Tatami at higher rarity, and pairs with the Iga Shadow Ninja in a deck of surprises.

Did you know

The word ninja only became popular in the twentieth century; earlier, terms like shinobi no mono, "one who conceals himself", were more common.
