The myth
This bridge yūrei is a MYTHENOR creation, built on real beliefs. In Japan it is believed that someone who dies with a very strong feeling, such as love, jealousy, longing or an unkept promise, may fail to pass on to the world of the ancestors and remain as a yūrei. From the eighteenth century they were shown in white, with loose hair and no feet, an image popularized by painters such as Maruyama Ōkyo. Bridges, crossroads and riverbanks appear often in these tales, seen as borders between worlds. Kwaidan includes stories of lovers who return to keep their promises.
Why it has this power
A Common level-3 Darkness Undead with 1200 ATK and 1000 DEF: strong for a common, because waiting gives strength. Darkness and Moon are the night on the bridge; Scarab, the dead. It is one of the materials of the Rite of the Forgotten Battlefield, which calls the Gashadokuro.

The custom of depicting yūrei without feet is often credited to an eighteenth-century painting by Maruyama Ōkyo.
