The myth

The trident was Poseidon's weapon and emblem. Apollodorus says the Cyclopes forged it and gave it to the god in the war against the Titans, at the same time as they gave Zeus the thunderbolt and Hades the helm. With it Poseidon stirred the sea, caused earthquakes and made springs gush from rock. In the contest for Athens he struck the Acropolis with the trident and brought forth a saltwater spring, but the Athenians preferred Athena's olive tree. The trident recalls the three-pronged fishing spear of Greek fishermen.

Why it has this power

An Uncommon equipment card that gives 700 ATK and DEF to a Serpent or a Water monster. It is a bigger boost than mortal weapons, because it is the weapon of an Olympian god. It strengthens creatures of Poseidon's realm such as Scylla, Charybdis, Triton and Thetis.

Did you know

Pausanias says that at the Erechtheion in Athens they showed the trident's mark in the rock and a saltwater well that sounded like the sea.
