The myth
Ariadne was the daughter of King Minos and Pasiphae, and so half-sister of the Minotaur. When Theseus came to Crete, she fell in love with him and promised to help if he would take her to Athens as his wife. Apollodorus says that, on Daedalus's advice, she gave him a ball of thread: Theseus tied one end to the Labyrinth's door, unwound it as he went in and, after killing the Minotaur, came back by following it. The hero fled with Ariadne but left her on the island of Naxos, where the god Dionysus found and married her.
Why it has this power
An Uncommon spell that lets you draw 2 cards. Following the thread means finding the way: new options appear in your hand when the duel feels like a maze with no exit. Simple and always useful, it helps you find fusion pieces or ritual materials.
Did you know
The English word clue comes from clew, a ball of thread, because of Ariadne's thread.
