The myth
Prometheus, the Titan of forethought, was a friend to mortals. Hesiod tells that after he tricked Zeus over the sharing of sacrificial meat at Mecone, the king of the gods hid fire from humankind. Prometheus stole it and brought it to earth hidden in a hollow stalk of giant fennel (Theogony 565–569; Works and Days 50–52). As punishment, Zeus sent Pandora to mankind and chained Prometheus to a rock, where an eagle ate his liver every day until Heracles freed him. In Aeschylus, Prometheus claims to have given humans all the arts.
Why it has this power
A Common spell that deals 500 direct damage to the opponent's breath. It is stolen fire falling from heaven to burn, small but impossible to block, like an ember hidden in a fennel stalk. It helps finish duels when the opponent is already at the edge.
Did you know
Giant fennel has a dry pith that smoulders slowly, which made it ideal for carrying an ember.
