The myth
In the Odyssey, Circe offers Odysseus a terrible choice: sail near Charybdis and lose the whole ship, or near Scylla and lose six men. Odysseus chooses Scylla without telling his companions, and six of them are snatched away. Later, alone on a raft, he is dragged back and escapes Charybdis by clinging to the fig tree. In the Argonautica, the goddess Thetis and the Nereids guide the Argo safely through the same strait. From this came the phrase between Scylla and Charybdis, still used today for a choice between two dangers.
Why it has this power
A Rare level-7 card with 2500 ATK and 2400 DEF, obtainable only by fusing Six-Necked Scylla with Charybdis: the whole strait becomes a single creature. The attack comes from Scylla and the defense from Charybdis's throat. A Water Serpent, it keeps both monsters' Moon and Leviathan constellations.
Did you know
Thucydides and other ancient writers already identified the place with the Strait of Messina.
