The myth
Egypt's waters hid real dangers, above all the crocodile, and that fear reached the afterlife too. Budge summarizes chapters 31 to 42 of the Book of the Dead, written to deliver the dead from the Great Crocodile Sui, the serpents Rerek and Seksek, a lynx with deadly claws and other beings that lived by devouring the souls of the dead. At the same time, sacred wells and lakes were part of the temples. The Jaws of the Sacred Well, a MYTHENOR trap, join those two faces of water.
Why it has this power
An uncommon counterattack trap: when an opponent's monster attacks, it is destroyed, swallowed by the well's jaws. Few return from the bottom. It has the same effect as Sand that Swallows the Aggressor, giving the deck two traps that destroy attackers outright.
Did you know
Among the dangers named in those chapters is even the beetle Apshait, from which the dead also needed protection.
