Destroys your opponent's strongest monster.

The myth

In ancient Egypt the scarab was a positive symbol: it represented Khepri, the morning sun, and resurrection, and scarab amulets protected the living and the dead. The image of the cursed black scarab comes from elsewhere: the modern legend of the pharaoh's curse, fed by the press after Lord Carnarvon's death in 1923, following the opening of Tutankhamun's tomb. Curse of the Black Scarab is a MYTHENOR spell that plays with that modern imagery, not with an Egyptian belief.

Why it has this power

A rare destruction spell: it destroys the opponent's strongest monster without any battle. First one scarab, then a thousand: the size of the target does not matter. It is the direct answer to a legendary or a fusion that dominates the field.

Did you know

Many scarab amulets were buried with mummies bearing inscriptions from the Book of the Dead, precisely to protect and ensure rebirth.
