The myth
Jaguar skin was one of the most prestigious objects in the Mexica world. It reached Tenochtitlan as tribute from southern provinces and was reserved for nobles, rulers and elite warriors: the ocelomeh, jaguar warriors, went into battle wrapped in it. The jaguar symbolized strength, night and Tezcatlipoca, and wearing its skin was, in a sense, borrowing its nature. Thrones, seats and ritual garments were also covered in jaguar pelts. Today the jaguar is a protected species in Mexico.
Why it has this power
A Common equip giving +500 ATK and DEF to a Beast-Warrior or Beast monster. Wearing the jaguar is borrowing its courage. It is the natural equip for Beasts like the Jaguar of the Stone Temples, the Ahuízotl and Tepeyóllotl, and for the mythology’s beast-warriors.
