The myth

Mesoamerican codices were painted books made of long strips of amate bark paper or deerskin coated in stucco and folded like a screen. The tlacuiloque, painter-scribes, recorded calendars, rituals, dynastic histories, genealogies, tribute and maps in glyphs and images. The sages, called tlamatinime, read and explained them aloud. After the conquest most were destroyed; few pre-Hispanic codices survive, such as the Codex Borgia, alongside many colonial ones, like the Florentine Codex and the Codex Mendoza.

Why it has this power

An Uncommon spell that lets you draw 2 cards. It is the codex unfolding to show one more page: the missing answer. Card draw is the backbone of any strategy, since it gives options; this spell helps you find the right materials for this mythology’s rituals and fusions.
